teaching English

Hello!

I will teach English as a foreign language. I have a couple of simple phrases that I would like to make sure that they are right:

1. What day is (it) today?
Do I need to use word it? Is it a "must"?

2. What day will be tomorrow?
Again, do I need to use word "it"? (will it be..)

3. What day was yesterday?
The same problem here, woth the word "it".

Thanks!

It is optional. Native speakers may say either.
Anonymous2. What day will be tomorrow? Again, do I need to use word "it"? (will it be..)
Follow the same rule, but native speakers say 'What day is (it) tomorrow?'
