Correction of ESL students' spoken English errors

Is it a good idea to correct all mistakes that a student makes when speaking English? Some people say that the teacher should correct all errors as they occur. Other people say that correcting a student's every mistake undermines their confidence. I'd like to hear what everybody (teachers and students) thinks about this.
