Hi, teachers! ???
Below is the 4th paragraph of an editorial I’m translating.
The editorial is criticizing the Korean Government’s stimulus measures to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic, calling them populism policies.
In the writer’s opinion, the government is squandering money although the budget deficit is expected to hugely increase for the next few years due to the measures.
And it urges the Moon Jae-in administration to focus more on maintaining budget balance.
So, teachers please give some advice on it!
I want to know in particular whether I chose the right one between a countable noun and an uncountable one (debts vs debt) and the usage of articles was correct (the money vs money) ![]()
| A national economic crisis all starts from debt. When a country’s debt exceeds a certain level, it is trapped by debt where debt creates a new debt. Investors don’t invest in the government bonds anymore and, in turn, the interest rates of the bonds soar. A sovereign credit rating is downgraded and the currency is rapidly devalued. This is a marked pattern of financial crises. The collapse of the former Soviet Union shows what it looks like when a country is bankrupted. Its official inflation in 1992 was above 2,000%. The money worthy of a car had become money that only afforded a piece of chocolate just two years after. Latin American countries in the 1970s and Greece in 2010 have suffered from similar sovereign debt crises. |
Thank you for reading my post, teacher ![]()
