DEBBY SOO (OPENTABLE CEO)
In markets like San Francisco, dining activity is actually down 88 percent compared to down 43 percent for the U.S. as a whole. In markets like New York, down 89 percent, Seattle's down 81 percent. Chicago's down 75 percent. So there are a lot of cities... big cities in the U.S. that have been really really impacted by this in terms of dining activity. We do see (1??)pockets of growth in activity. Uh, (2??)we've seen as, as, as restrictions lifted, as people feel safer and more comfortable dining out, they do dine out. In a recent Opentable survey, we actually found that 25 percent of survey respondents in the U.S. and Canada are dining out at least once a week. So there are some (3??)glimerse of, of hope here. Other trends (4??)were seen as that outdoor dining has really picked up. So if you look at dining for in September of this year versus September last year, (5??)we seen an 18x increase (6??)in parties sitting outside.
(7?? summary): Dining activity has significantly diminished due to COVID-19 particularly in major cities in the U.S. The fact that some people dine out as the situation gets better and outdoor dining has grown compared to the corresponding month of last year is promising though.
