Hi, teachers.
I transcribed a part of an interview with Steve Case, co-founder and CEO of America Online.
Could you watch the show below from 3:30 to 4:30 and check the colored sentences?
I hardly understand what he is saying at those parts T.t
STEVE CASE (AOL CO-FOUNDER, REVOLUTION GROWTH CEO) CASE: WE NEED A NEW ECONOMY THAT WILL BENEFIT ALL PEOPLE Yeah, I guess it’s gonna be tough. But even without COVID, a lot of businesses go under in here. There’s, there’s a this, kind of a creative destruction for us here, which is why it’s so important to be planning the seeds of the new company (1)someone will which emerge to replace some of those jobs and inevitably will be lost, and it, because of COVID. But we will see more of that over the next years. And there’s only 2 ways to approach it. Either the government steps and says we’re gonna more support money (2)for the, for the immune this, that are, that are, struggling, people who are struggling. And that is the part of the solution. Or, there’s a focus on how do you launch those new companies to create those new jobs. Not just focus on (3)the real beauro mere on the existing companies sort of that (4)am I say the industries past focus on the new companies, start ups that can help break the industries in the future. And do it in all the countries, not just in a few places like, uh, like Silicon Valley. And that’s why (5)my hope for happen here. There will be not just the return to normal but an opportunity that creates a stronger economy that really is more inclusive. |
