Hi, teachers!
I’m translating a business article from Korean to English! (Source: The Chosun Ilbo)
And the following is the first half of the article, covering foreign investors in the Korea stock and bond markets who are selling stocks and contrastively buying government bonds . In the second half of the article, it explains they are preferring to hold government bonds rather than stocks because the economy is in flux at the moment due to the pandemic of coronavirus and unlike stocks, government bonds is a risk free asset.
I know it takes too much time if you correct all the errors in the translation, so could you check the colored parts and any other big errors or mistakes? ???
Foreigners, selling stocks on consecutive dayswhile buying the largest amount of government bonds ever.Holding listed bonds worth 134 trillion won
After the outbreak of coronavirus, foreign investors have been selling their stocks in large numbers while the amount of government bonds they have been buying is a record high . The Financial Supervisory Service announced on April 12th that the value of Korea public bonds owned by foreign investors was 134,410,200 million won as of April 9th, which is a record high in 18 years since August, 2002 when related statistics started to be officially released. It rose by 1.843 trillion won compared to late March this year. Korea public bonds denotes(or means?) government bonds and Monetary Stabilization Bonds listed at the Korea Exchange (KRX). As foreign investors invest in unlisted bonds very little, flow of listed bonds is important in analyzing them in the bond market. The value of bonds held by foreigners fell from 127,188,100 million won in September last year to 123,871,400million won at the end of last year. But they began to increase investment again this year. Accordingly, the annual interest rates of government bonds in which foreigners in the bond market mostly invest dropped to 0.97% as of April 10th on a three-year maturity basis, which is a record low ever. It equals(or means?) the prices of government bonds rose. |
Thank you so much teachers for reading my post! ???
