Students, What makes your teacher good or bad in your classes?

Hi Dave,

I often go to classes in subjects other than English.

Here are some of my thoughts on what makes a good teacher, in no particular order.

I also try to follow these in my own teaching activities.

Always punctual in starting and finishing.

Well-prepared.

Genuinely interested in each student as a person.

Willing to depart from the original lesson plan if a better teaching opportunty arises, or if the original plan is not working.

Honest, eg willing to say 'I don't know, but I'll find out'.

Willing to really listen to students' questions.

Sense of humour.

Understands that each student learns in a different way.

Kind.

Good classroom-management skills.

Able to give clear instructions for activities and assignments.

I could continue, but enough.

Hi Dave,

To me, a good teacher is someone who is fair. Simply put, to them, all students are the same, and they treat them fairly. And they are aware that what they do or say affects their students. In my opinion, a good teacher doesn't just teach lessons but also teaches their students how to become good people. They should have good morals, and moreover, if they teach children and teenagers, consider themselves a parent and supervise that child.

That is my own opinion, I'm waiting to hear from others! :)
