Tastes/tasted

I just finished my meal, got up to tell the cook:

Hi, the noodles tasted excellent. Or should I say: Hi, the noodles taste excellent.

Could I use both sentences even thought I had already finished the noodles?

Thanks in advance.

Tasted makes more sense, since you've already eaten them. Use taste if you're recommending the noodles to someone else. You could also say, "The noodles were excellent" which sounds more natural.
