Tastes so-so

Hi. Let's say you've made some mini sandwiches and want people you know to taste them and give feedback by checking one of the boxes with words like "very good," "good" and "bad" next to each of the boxes. Does number 2 sound okay as a variation to number 1?

1. We've made these mini sandwiches. Try them and check one of the boxes below.

2. We're conducting a taste test. Please take the test and check one of the boxes below.

Also, What is a good word for tasting somewhat between "good" and "bad"? Does the word "so-so" sound good?

I hope my questions are clear? Thank you in advance for your help.
