Some say that news has no connection with most people’s life and it is a waste of time for most of us to read newspapers and watch television news programs. Do you agree or disagree?

People read newspapers or watching television news programs with a view to updating information every day. However, it is argued that reading news is unnecessary and waste of time as it doesn’t relate to most of people’s life. I wholeheartedly disagree with this statement for several reasons

Reading news possibly adjust human negative behaviors to suit the norm of society. In other word, it determines the way people think and act. The arrest and prosecution of a murder, for example, which is broadcasted on tv will make individuals think of the subsequent consequences if they have intention to commit any crime. Hence, this would reduce the crime rate drastically

In addition, reading news is able to be educational. Since mass media normally provide information a plethora of international news in several aspects comprising politics, economics and military, inhabitants are more well-informed about issues a sensitivity of other nations. Not only are various cultures acknowledged but their attitudes and demeanor towards stereotypes in other countries would be changed, meaning less prejudice would exist in the long run

In conclusion, news is absolutely pivotal to human life since it helps to decrease social crimes and provides useful information at the same time. It is predicted that there are more people read or watch news in the near future due to these positive influences.
