Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of studying in a foreign country.

As education has always been one of the most imperative demands, many parents decide to send their children abroad with the hope that they can accumulate better learning experiences. Some people believe that studying in foreign country has various advantages; others think that we must consider it carefully because of many disadvantages. In this essay, I will discuss both points of view.
At the first glance, going abroad to study has numerous benefits. Initially, it is undeniable that foreign institution brings students more opportunities to access worldwide knowledge. In many countries, especially the Western ones, the teaching methods and facilities are more modern and practical than the hometown countries. Therefore, if children are educated in this condition, they will broaden their mind and will have more chances to find qualified jobs in the future. Secondly, travel abroad alone to study means that children have to be more independent. Students have to deal with a lot of problems in life themselves, and though that, many living skills and lessons are learnt. Thus, it is true that people who used to have foreign education are often more independent and determined than others.
In contrast, many people concern about the drawbacks of foreign institutions. The first reason is that when being lack of parental guidance, some students will become rebellious and not have consciousness to study seriously. Consequently, it will lead to the waste of money and time. In addition, “brain drain” is becoming an alarming issue nowadays because many students decide to stay abroad instead of coming back to their motherland. As a result, there is always the threat of the person losing touch with his or her nation. This means a huge blow to the culture and history of the country.
In conclusion, I personally believe that despite the mentioned disadvantages, the advantages still overweight and there is highly recommendation to apply for foreign courses if having chance. After all, foreign education is the worthy investment that will bring us more good than harm.
