Today more and more people are using mobile phones and computers. Thus, people are losing the ability to communicate face to face. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Mobile phones and computers have become all the rage nowadays, and they have been used by almost everybody. As a result, society’s interpersonal communication has been downplayed due to the lack of face-to-face interaction. While I agree with this effect to some extend, I do believe that there are several communicational benefits of using those devices should be taken into consideration.

On the one hand, there are a variety reasons why using mobiles and computers are causing shortcomings in real interaction amongst community. One reason is that people may have excessively dependence on using the internet or texting without awareness of the importance of real communication. If a person chooses to pursue a job involved in dealing with the public; for example, a sale person, he would probably find it difficult unless he has a good social communication skill. Another reason is that spending time on those smart devices impedes people, especially young adults, from building a strong relationship with others. For instance, instead of squandering hours and hours playing video games or surfing social network sites on the Internet, students should take part in extra-curriculum activities to create a strong bone between friends or family members.

On the other hand, it is undeniable that smart devices such as smart phones and computers recently facilitate society’s communication. Nowadays, people would be able to keep in touch with their friends or their family by using smartphone or computer, with no limit of time or location. For example, it is possible now for a student to keep abreast of how his parents are doing in his hometown via social networking on the Internet, when he studies abroad. In addition, as the society becomes more globalized, mobiles and computers give people numerous opportunities to interact with other communities from different cultures without actually travelling. For instance, despite of having many difficulties in getting to school, a student from a remote rural area could make it possible to study for a degree by distance learning with online lectures internationally delivered by qualified teachers around the world.

In conclusion, it is true that mobiles and computer may probably cause the downfall in society’s interpersonal communication, but this is by no means that people could deny the advantages those smart devices bring to our life in terms of interactive relations.
