The best way for governments to solve the problem of traffic congestion is providing free public transport in 24 hours per day, and seven days a week.

To what extent do you agree or disagree?

An idea suggested by people who would like to find a solution for traffic jam that there is no way better than offering public transport for free throughout day and night, and everyday in a week. In my opinion, I agree up to a point with this opinion.

On the one hand, there are set of compelling reasons why I support the idea of having free public transport extra hours per day and all day in a week. Firstly, the option of moving around at no cost will encourage people to choose bus or underground train instead of using their own expensive vehicle to cut down on their spending. Consequently, it helps to reduce the numbers of private vehicles travelling on road. Secondly, if there are public transportation running in early morning or late at night, people will not only use them in the peak time but also in other time frames, leading to the decrease in the number vehicles in rush hours.

On the other hand, it also seems to me that it is not the best option to run free public transport 24 hours per day. It will be a waste of money if we run many public vehicles at nights when the roads are nearly empty. Only by saving the cost for public transportation at night can government focus on the quality vehicles serving for public at day time.

In conclusions, I agree that we should make priority for free public transportation for longer hours and daily, but it is by no means that we should run them during night time.
