Task 2 - Speaking the same language

Scientists predict that humans will speak the same language in the future. Do you think it is a positive or negative development?
In the foreseeable future, scientists make a prediction that the whole world would communicate in the same language. As far as I am concerned, this tendency brings much more disadvantages rather than advantages.
On the one hand, speaking the same language around the globe may be attractive in some ways. This can break language barriers to which people have to face up in this day and age, thus people would take it easy in communication, not only on a daily basis but also in job market across countries. I can take English as an outstanding example, the global use of this language enables external transactions to come to agreements quickly or promotes tourism industry considerably. Moreover, linguistic integration may offer an array of opportunities for all people to work or live wherever in the world.
On the other hand, I would argue that using the same dialect over the world results in tremendous downsides. Language, which has been created throughout a long history, is regarded as the symbol of culture and identity of a country. Speaking a native language also reflects each individual’s nationality, self identity and ethnic pride. Furthermore, various languages contribute to a diversified world these days, which allows us to differentiate each nation due to its unique features. Should a universal language be applied, the world will certainly become a dull place.
In conclusion, a wide range of languages contributes to a diversified and colorful world, and this variety can be lost if the application of the same language comes true in every country.
