Some people think that all teenagers should be required to do unpaid work in their free time to help the local community. They believe this would benefit both the individual teenager and society as a whole.
Do you agree or disagree?

A controversy has recently been sparked about whether the requirement of doing non-profitable work among the young should be applied to real life or not. While some people believe this would benefit both teenagers and society as a whole, I support that it is no good forcing young people to do volunteer work.

It is clear that there are several reasons why the requirement of doing unpaid jobs has a wide range of detrimental effects. As can be seen from the reality, the young are always busy with learning and this process take a lot of time and efforts to achieve their goals. For example, beside studying at school for the whole day, Vietnamese students are given a large number of assignments and homework from upto 10 subjects in the curricula, which in turns put a huge pressure on students that they have to finish all of them in a limited time. Therefore, it would be better if students are willing to do charitable work amd make contribution to the society after graduating from schools.

At the same time, in social perspective, forcing teenagers to do unpaid jobs could bring about various disadvantages. Apparently, when people are endeavoring to create a modern society with equality and freedom, enforcing the requirements of joining volunteer work will act as a deterrent to those values of the society. As a consequence, this would arouse communitywide disagreements from the general public. Additionally, parents having teenagers would subject to this requirement because they would have a sensitive thought that their children would be taken advantage of and distracted from studying at school.

In conclusion, from my point of view, requiring teenagers to do unpaid work will have negative impacts on both individuals and the society. Participating in charitable work or not should mainly depend on students’ decisions rather than a compulsory thing.
