It is said that with the growing population of technology devices, teachers will be replaced by machines in the not distant future. Despite I accept partly about the technological gadget benefits to students, I strongly believe that there is a scope for mentors in education.
On the one hand, it is no doubt that people stand to greatly benefits from adopting the latest devices when it comes to learning. First, there are a lot of learning materials at the fingertips on the internet. For example, with a smartphone or a laptop which is internet-connected, students could access thousands of education journals, E-books and introduction videos related to their subjects, that help them learn in a number of different ways. Second, with the development of internet connection, distance learning becomes easier than ever before. For those who got a job want to further their knowledge at night when their work has been done, they could take part in the online course whenever they wish.
On the other hand, the merits of educational mentors offer to their students could not be underestimated. Unlike unidirectional computers, instructors are responsive to individual need so that they can give the students trustworthy advice about not only knowledge but also moral values. As a matter of fact, human teachers are taken the role of evaluators of student’s capabilities by formal test and thus inspire them to overcome their weakness. Furthermore, even though tons of materials based on their study are available online, a school teacher is a person who could divide what learning sources match their pupils at each level. Chances are many students would not be messed up with tremendous materials on the web.
In conclusion, despite some advantages associated with digital tools, It seems to me that there still has a room for human teachers in order to help students make progress at learning.
