When designing a building, the most important factor is the intended use of the building rather than its outward appearance. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
In an attempt to construct the building, it has long been considered by architects whether the A functionally efficient or aesthetics are the most significant aspect Although an attractive appearance is beneficial sometimes, I strongly believe that the function of a building should be placed an emphasis on.
It is undoubted that aesthetic building has some advantages to the economy and the beauty of the city. First, external decoration plays as a vehicle for advertising that leads to rising purchasing power. If the outer design of malls or supermarket is eye-catching with photographic images, architectural drawings or 3D building models, in all probability, it would provoke the customer’s interest to attract them to go shopping. Second, the building with an aesthetic design contributes a lot to the appearance of the city. Singapore is renowned as a country worth living in with stunning skyscrapers that have mass appeal to foreign tourists.
However, It seems to me that the essential element of building construction lies in the function of it. Each building caters to specific purposes that could be made the most of the construction. It would be peculiar if building design in historical sites is coming up with the ideas that applying marvelous visual images or complex ornament outside. Even though it is perceived as a part of the aesthetically designed building. Furthermore, the end goal of building designs is to meet the demand of the users. People frequent a particular place because the facilities and services are provided not because of its outside.
In conclusion, although there have some advantages of the buildings designed aesthetically, I agree with the belief that the functionality is recognized as the most important aspect when it comes to building design.
