Task 2: Influence on children

Some people believe that studying at university or college is the best route to a successful career, while others believe that it is better to get a job straight after school.

Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

Finding a job or continuing their education after graduation from high school is a dilemma that most students have to cope with. Personally, I believe that entering a college or university will bring a brighter future for those who choose to take it.

On the one hand, there are various attractive reasons why people get a job right after school. They will become independent and thereby being able to settle down and start a family sooner than undergraduate students. Furthermore, instead of being snowed under assignments and essays, they will have an opportunity to obtain hands-on experience, polish their skills and maintain a strong relationship at the workplace. All of which will be beneficial for them to move up the career ladder.

On the other hand, departing sooner does not mean arriving earlier. I believe that the time at university or college is the incredibly precious period when the students accumulate the necessary knowledge and skills which would highlight them in a competitive job market. Moreover, a majority of the well-paid jobs require high-qualified employees with a tertiary degree. For instance, it is almost impossible for a person to become a dentist or lawyer without appropriate academic qualifications. Therefore, even though pursuing higher study may take a longer time, it is one of the most worthwhile investments which a person should make to achieve a successful career they are burning desired for.

In conclusion, despite some benefits people may obtain if having a job straight after school, I strongly believe that people will get far more successful in their career when they spend time to excel at a university or college.
