Task 2 IELTS: Some people believe that hobbies need to be difficult to be enjoyable. to what extent do you agree or disagree?

It is true that completing a challenging task can be an enjoyable experience for some people, but most of the time the opposite is true. Thus, I partly disagree with the people who only consider hard to achieved hobbies as the means of entertainment.

As a matter of fact, easy to follow leisure activity have a better appeal to most people. People choose singing, drawing, or even walking as their hobbies because such activities can help them relax after a stressful day at work. These tasks, which require little to no effort, are surprisingly effective in improving people's moods. Research has shown that after completed a challenging task, people who choose an easier game to play are likely to have a better mood. Students are also encouraged by scientists to perform a light dancing exercise in between classes to relieve tension from continuous studying.

On the other hand, the result of completing a task that requires both technical and mental ability can be fruitful, but it is only a pleasure to some. Time-consuming and tedious hobbies are not suitable for most people with an exception of the elder. For example, scientists have reported that the number of chess game played in leisure time correlated positively with the mental capacity of elders in nursing home. These hobbies are also suited perfectly with people who have an ‘achiever’ attitude. With this challenger mindset, people will enjoy almost anything that let them test their own limits.

Overall, I can totally understand why some people are attracted to the more challenging hobbies, but it is unreasonable to say that easier hobbies are not fun and relaxing. Most people still prefer activities that require little effort over the difficult ones to entertain themselves.
