Question: In many developing countries, there are major problems with the quality of air and water from both industry and construction.

What problems has this created?

What solutions could be provided to prevent this?

Answer:

Ever since the industrial revolution began, several expansions in order to enhance the financial development have taken place, especially in the progressing nations. Along with these unprecedented improvements is the degradation of our nature such as air and water pollution. Although the problem seems challenging, with the right strategies, these countries can tackle those issues successfully.

There are many consequences of the decline in quality of air and water. One of them is the threat which is directly posed to humans’ health. For instance, consuming fishes from contaminated areas brings potential disease or breathing in polluted air may cause asthma or lung cancer. Another problem is the marine habitat being damaged, which is a result of the tremendously polluted ocean. This issue may lead to the extinction of some vulnerable aquatic species, which will eventually cause the loss of balance of the food web.

Because of that, actions to control those problems are highly essential. In order to improve the air quality, the Government must establish strict and clear policies to ensure that factories only discharge a limited amount of toxic gases into the atmosphere. Besides, any individuals or organizations that intend to violate the announced policies must be properly punished by fine or even imprisonment for particular serious cases. However, not just the Government, residents must take responsibility as well. For instance, strongly deploring every misdeed of factories and stopping buying their products are helpful steps that people can do to prevent any more decrease in air and water quality.

In conclusion, despite the fact that air and water are highly important aspects of humans’ life, human activities are intentionally harming the environment. However, this destruction can be controlled with the right plan, which requires the collaboration of not just the Government but each individual in the world.
