3-11-2016: Some children do not have the ability for learning languages. Therefore schools should not make children do that. Do you agree or disagree?
It is quite true that certain groups of students are incapable in their acquisiton of languages apart from their mother tongue. However, in my opinion I believe that we must to stimulate or even force kids to learn them.
On the one hand, students should learn foreign language for some reasons. Firstly, when students study a new ones, their creativity and analytical skills will improve. For example, one of my nephew who has attended to an international primary school always has some novel idea and good method in study than those who has gone to a normal ones. Secondly , knowing multiple languages may increase student’s employability when they grow up and enter the work force. For instant, a lot of international firm has widen their job market in recently. So, it would be a great opportunity for candidates who are able to afford it.
On the other hand, schools ought to adopt a new method of teaching. Not to mention the fact that children should be able to choose which foreign language they really want to learn. For example, some childrens who lived in my town were not interested in English language when they were in primary school. Fortunately, they had a passion for Japanese language when they went to private secondary school, which had some of languages they could choose. Moreover, lessons in foreign language should be presented in various ways in order to cater for student’s different learning style. In particular, Vietnamese students found that their biggest problem in speaking English were grammar. They did not confident enough to have a conversation with foreigner. Since their school have invited some foreign teacher, students could feel energetic to communicate and forget about grammar.
In conclusion, certain groups of students are in capable of learning languages, thus school ought to adopt a fresh method of teaching to encourage students. I am strongly believe that learning a new language is a key consideration in this era.
