Task 1 - The elderly people in three countries

The chart highlights the information about the percentage of elderly citizens who aged more than 65 years old in Japan, Sweden and the USA over an 80-years period from 1940 to 2010.

In general, what stands out in the graph is that the proportion of elderly people is predicted to increase significantly in three countries from 1940 to 2040. While the highest percentage of older people was the USA from 1940 to 2000, the percentage of elderly residents in Japan is forecast to reach a peak and slightly higher than the others in 2040.

Look at the details from 1940 to 2000, the elderly population of Sweden and the USA went up from around 8 percent to 15 percent, while the Japan, on the other hand, showed relatively little change in the proportion of its population aged 65 plus and remained at just under 5 percent.

If we look at the proportion of older citizens in Sweden and the USA between 2000 and 2040, it is predicted to rise significantly by 10 percent from approximately 15 percent to 25 percent. As for Japan, it is predict to rocket from 5 percent to just over 25 percent, making slightly higher than the others in 2040.
