TASK 1 - TEST 1

Hello teacher. This is an essay for task 1 in the IELTS test that I just wrote. Please check this essay for me.

Thank you so much.

Answer:

The pie chart and the following table gives the information about the land degradation of three specific regions in the world (North America, Europe, and Oceania) that were strongly affected by several reasons in the 1990s. These reasons are deforestation, over-cultivation, over-grazing, and the other.

Overall, over-grazing dominated the highest percentage of worldwide land degradation. The same thing just happened in Oceania, while North America and Europe’s land were mostly degraded by over-cultivation and deforestation respectively.

Over-grazing spent the largest proportion of land degradation with slightly more than a third of total (35%), which was exactly fivefolded compared with the other reason. Deforestation was in second with 30%, only 2% higher than over-cultivation that was after over-grazing and deforestation.

In North America, over-cultivation took the highest percentage with 3.3%, doubling the proportion of over-grazing even when it was the first-ranked reason affecting land degradation over the world. On the other hand, Europe’s land was degraded mainly by deforestation with 10% while it only accounted for 0.2% in North America. Over-cultivation and over-grazing were responsible for 7.7 and 5.5% respectively. Oceania showed a completely different pattern where over-grazing dominated with a value of approximately 11% and over-cultivation did not influent the degradation.
