The bar charts illustrate the proportion of marriages and divorces in the USA during the time fro 1970 to 2000 and marital adult American status in two years 1970 and 2000.

Overall, The number of marriages is higher than the number of divorces. The proportion of married status is the highest marital status compared to divorced status.

The number of marriages which started at 2.5 million in 1970 stabling till 1980 and smoothly falling to reach a plunge of 1.5 million in the last year 2000. While divorced numbers increased to reach a peak of almost 1.5 million before slowly declining to 1 million in 2000.

There are increases in Never married status and divorced status in two of the years 1970 and 2000 ( increasing from about 15 percent to one fifth and around 5 percent to nearly 10 percent respectively)

The married status started at 70 percent in 1970 consistently decreased to under 60 percent in 2000 and the status of widows smoothly fell from approximately 8 percent to about 5 percent
