The charts below show the reasons why people travel to work by bicycle or by car.

Given are pie charts illustrating two means of transportations by the reason why people choose them to commute to their work.

Overall, it is clear that both cycling and driving are chosen because of 5 benefits they bring to their owners. Nevertheless, the motives are different between each type of transportation: while people who choose bikes care about their health and the environment, cars are chosen because of their comfort.

A more detailed look at the first pie chart about cycling reveals that less than a third the number of people who tend to go for bicycles think of cycling as a way to exercise and keep fit. In addition, people who choose bikes because they are eco-friendly experienced the same proportion. Those reasons are followed by no parking problems, costs-free, and the time needed to travel to work outpacing cars with 15%, 13%, and 12%, respectively.

Among car choosers, comfort is regarded as the most significant reason, since its figure is exactly two-fifths, ranked first in the list. Accounted for 21% of reasons that convince people to travel by cars is the distance that they have to go through to get to work. People also prefer cars to bicycles because the former’s speed is faster than the latter’s. 14% of them gave this reason, and this percentage also makes up the number of people who need to carry some items to work. Lastly, only well more than one out of ten people choose cars because of the safety they can provide, compared to bicycles.
