Expenditure on Fast Foods (in Million Pounds) by Income Groups, UK 1990

The bar chart presents the expense (in million pounds) spent on three types of fast food - Hamburger, Fish & Chips, and Pizza - of different income groups in the UK in 1990.

Overall, it is clear that the high income class spent the largest amount of money, most of which on Hamburger. In contrast, the low income group spent the least expense in every category, except for Fish & Chips.

The expenditure on Hamburger and Pizza declined from the richest to the poorest citizens. The amount of money the high income class spent on Hamburger was 47 Million Pounds, higher than any other type of fast food ever recorded, while that of the low income customers was only 14 Million Pounds, even lower than the expenditure that they spent on Fish & Chips. The figure of Pizza had the same pattern, dropping by 12 Million Pounds to 7 Million Pounds in low income class.

On the contrary, the amount of money spent on Fish & Chips in the average income customers was 25 Million Pounds, higher than the richer and poorer groups. Notably, despite their inclination towards Hamburger, rich people’s expenditure on Fish & Chips was considerably low with only 16 Million Pounds.
