The diagram shows various stages to make ethanol fuel from corn.
Overall, there are nine steps in ethanol fuel production, starting with collecting corn and ending with transporting the final products. One of the most important stages in this production is fermenting, where chemical changes take place thanks to the bacteria. This is also the only stage occurring chemical reaction.
After the corn is collected, it is stored in a storage. Then, it is ground into small pieces in a mill. Next, water is added to the flour, and the mixture is cooked for about 4 hours. After that, it is fermented for about 2 days, where the mixture of cornflour and water basically turns into ethanol. Following that, the solid by-product, which is produced during the process and is not of any use, is removed. The remaining liquid then is purified for 5 hours. Finally, ethanol fuel is stored and transported to other places for use.
