Question

The bar chart depicts the proportion of men, women and children in the UK eating five portions of fruits and vegetables everyday between 2001 and 2008.

Overall, the percentange of people consuming 5 fruits and vegetables a day rose over the given time. Additionally, while children ate the the least, women consistently consumed the most fruits and vegetables from the start to up to the end of the period.

In detail, around 2 out of 10 of women ate at least 5 portions of fruit and vegetables per day in 2001, peaking to roughly 4 out of 10 in 2006, before decreasing to 3 out of 10 in 2008. On the other hand both the proportions of men (16%) and children (11%) did not change for the first 3 years in the given period. For men, however, the proportion went up to about 27% in 2006 and remained in that level in 2007, then it went down slightly by 1% in the final year. For children, an increase in the percentage was seen starting 2004, further climbing to around 25% in 2007 then declining to slightly to 24% in 2008.
