The table provides information on the underground railway system in six major cities.

Overall, it is apparent that London is the oldest among and has the largest rail. On the other hand, Los Angeles is the latest as it opened in 2001 and covered the second least railway routes.

The London railway system was opened in 1863 and has a total of 394km. The Paris railway system started in 1900 but has a far larger passenger base with 1191 people per year. Also, though Tokyo opened later, in 1927, with a total of 155 km, only third in terms of size, it is easily the most used, with 1928 million passengers per year.

Of the three newest networks, Washington DC was the most extensive, with 126 kilometers of route compared to 11 kilometers and 28 kilometers for Kyoto and Los Angeles. Washington Dc and Los Angeles underground railway systems were established in 1976 and 2001 with comparatively smaller routes and few passengers. . Route of Kyoto railway station is the smallest route and least used among the mentioned six cities.
