Task 1

The charts below give information about USA marriage and divorce rates between 1970 and 2000, and the marital status of adult Americans in two the years.

The bar charts show data on the number of marriages and divorces in the USA and marital status of adult Americans. Information is collected from 1970 to 2000 by four types: never married, married, widowed, and divorced.

Overall, the percentage of marriage Americans was higher than its of Americans divorced in 30 years. Likewise, the rate of the others: never married, widowed, and divorced was very low.

In the first ten years, the figure of the USA marriages were constant, exactly 2,5millons. On the other hand, divorced rate was increased slightly, at 1millions and 1,5millions in 1970 and 1980 respectively. However, the number of marriages in the USA fell continuously on the latter period, just at 2,2millions in the year 1970 and 2millions in 2000. Likewise, about 2millions of the USA divorced on this period, which decreased insignificantly.

It can be seen from the chart showing marital status of adult Americans, the percentage of married adults was highest, at 70 percent in 1970, then decreased to 60 percent in 2000. The divorced trend was slight increase to 10 percent in 2000. The rate of widowed adults was unchangeable on 30 years, at just 5 percent. Meanwhile, the percentage of never married in USA was merely 15 percent and exactly 20 percent in 1970 and 2000 respectively.
