Target exceeded twice

Hi,

In the following sentence I wish to convey that the company’s total acquisitions during 2008 were twice as much as the acquisition target set at the beginning of the year. Does the sentence convey that? Are there any better variations?

In 2008, the company exceeded its acquisition target twice.

Thanks,

MG.
