Tap/tune/turn

Hi

There's the sentence: If you want to be of help to others, be as tapped in, tuned in, and turned on as you can possibly be.

--- I don't understand what these three may mean? How to say it in different words?

To me they mean that one should be watchful and concentrated.

Sounds like a reference to Timothy Leary: "Tune in, turn on, and drop out."

I would take it to mean that you have to have something in common with the people you want to help, learn about them and their situation.
