Taping it

Hello, could you help me figure out the meaning of the word “Taping it”. In a context: the guy goes through numerous TV Channels, stops at one of them like, “Saved by the Bell: The New Class.” The other guy covers his eyes, turns away and yells: “Taping it”. What does it mean?

Thank you.

I think it means recording something on a video tape. He doesn't want to see the TV because he is recording it and doesn't want to know the ending.

It's probably eant to be funny - that particular TV show is a banal sitcom with no element of suspense, that nobody would really want to video tape. It's a comment on his intellect that he's recording it.
