Tap (on) the link

Could someone help, when describing how to use an ebook, should I say "tap the link" or "tap on the link"?

Thanks!

"Tap" is common in that context.

e.g. tap screen to unlock/lock

Thanks, Elanguest and Anonymous. I forgot to mention that I'm talking about a tablet and not a computer with mouse. I believe that makes a difference?

Yes, I understood that. Hence my reply.

Thanks. A last question, in your example, you used "Tap the screen." What if it's a link? Should I tap the link or tap on the link? Thanks much!

I wouldn't expect "tap" to behave very differently from "click" in "click the link" and "click on the link", and I'm sure either would be understood. I'd probably say "tap the link", but I might change my mind.
