tamed-down language

Can anyone explain this phrase, tamed-down language in films for TV. I guess it means opposite of bad langueage, but I would like a more precise explanation.

Thnaks!

It's not the opposite of bad language, but it's language that is less rude. Instead of using vulgar language, they used less offensive language. For example "He's really a mean person" instead of "He's a real son of a **" (the ** would be rude word).
