Talk with a straight face

Hi

We have an expression in our language which would be literally translated something like this in English.

He never talks to me with a straight face.

(=he is always angry/irritated while talking)

Would the red part work in everyday English? I once stumbled upon the following sentence in the same context.

She always responded/replied with knitted eyebrows.

Could you please give your take on this as well?

Thanks,

Tom

Mr. (=he is always angry/irritated while talking) In English, a straight face is not that, it is one that has not yielded to the urge to laugh or smile. You keep a straight face, or not.
