Which is correct?

I went to my mum's to talk.
I went to my mum's to talk to her.

Is "talk" in the above sentences an intransitive verb?

If you say the first, you allow the possibility that you may be going to talk to your mother and other people. It's possible, though pretty unlikely, that you may not be going to talk to your mother at all.
