"In class, the professor talked about physics for one hour."

"In class, the professor talked physics for one hour."

Would people think "talk physics" is an informal version of "talk about physics"?

'Talk something' (eg talk baseball, talk physics, talk money, talk girls) is OK in casual English, and fairly common.
