If they are both correct, what's the difference in meaning?

"Talent" here is a collective for "talented people," so you wouldn't use "talents."

Thank you, but is there any way that we non-native speakers can decide whether 'talent' should be singular? For example, we can say

-He is a great talent.

A talent is a talented person, then how do you decide whether the situation I mentioned requires the collective singular? Also, professionals tempts me to use the plural for talent as well.
