Taking in the view?

Hello
I heard a phrase in a movie that sound like this: "If you please excuse me, I'd like to continue taking in the view", and the idea was that the person wanted to admire de view.
is it "taking in the view" an usual and well known expression?

Hi, Clive

And if I say "What we failed to take into view is her parsimoniousness", does the expression "take into view" mean "to consider, give it some cogitation".
(provided that such an expression even exists, I'm not sure on that accout though, but it has a familiar ring to it all the same and I think I heard it in a similar context).

Thanks a million!

In this case, in my oppinion, should sound like this:"We failed mistaking into account her parsimoniousness".
Could it be?

Best wishes,

Hi,
'To take in the view' means 'to absorb/contemplate the view'. It's a physical expression that involves actually looking with the eyes.

And if I say "What we failed to take into view is her parsimoniousness", does the expression "take into view" mean "to consider, give it some cogitation". No, definitely not. You are probably thinking of the expression 'to take into consideration'.

Hi,
Everyone makes mistakes. Your English is too good for anyone to say you are dumb. (Especially to say it three times!)
