TAKEOUT

Dear Teachers,

1. I'm really sick of eating takeout.

- "takeout" means "food which is contained in small plastic boxes and bought from restaurants", correct?

Thanks very much to Teachers,

In India, to where I belong, they call it "takeaway". I guess the same applies to the U.S. as well.

Isn't TAKE HOME the appropriate term?

Oh. I'm sorry. It's TAKEOUT or TAKEAWAY.

In the parts of the US I've lived, we say "take-out" (maybe it's "takeout") - but there's no need for the boxes to be small or plastic. Pizza comes in a large cardboard box. Chinese comes in small, white cardboard cartons. The Mexican place nearby uses styrofoam boxes.
