Thanks Clive! I already have a loan and I'm taking out another one. Can I say "I'm taking out more loans"? Can I also say "He has a PhD in the discipline"?

Thanks again!

Hi,

I already have a loan and I'm taking out another one. Can I say "I'm taking out more loans"?

Why use a plural? Just say 'I'm taking out another loan'.

Can I also say "He has a PhD in the discipline"? Sure, as long as the listener knows which discipline.

Thanks Clive! I actually meant Electrical Engineering. I was doubtful if the article had any impact on the discipline.

One more question Clive! Does the article 'a' that precedes the name of discipline get omitted under certain circumstances? e.g. can I say "He has PhD in EE"?

Thanks again!

The correct thing to say is eg

She has a PhD in Electrical Engineering.
