Take to sth

take to : to begin to do something as a habit

ex) I've taken to waking up very early.

I'm not familiar with the idiom. All I could say before seeing that idiom was:

- I wake up very early as a habit

- I habitually wake up very early.

My question is the example sentence sounds very natural(or good) to hear compared to my examples without misunderstanding?
