Take the shape of (is this natural?)

Is this natural, and when can you use "takes the shape of" the way I've used it?

1 The pillow took the shape of my head.

Thank you

No Alex, Did the pillow actually take the shape of your head or was the imprint of your head left in the pillow? Think again - the outline of your head. Was the outline of your head left in the pillow?
