take the old tiles down/off the wall

Hello,
I am not a tiler, but I usually hear and use "remove" in this collocation. In more informal contexts, can we say:
- Come and help me take the old tiles off (the wall).
- Come and help me take the old tiles down.

I prefer the first sentence, even though "remove" is more commonly used in my experience, but I wouldn't be surprised by "take down", as I've heard people use it.

Thank you

As I said, I prefer "take off" and remove. I heard a contractor use "take down" in the UK once. Some of the YouTube "how to" guys have used it as well.
