Take that line

Hello everybody.

Would you please tell me what ' take that line' means?

‘Oh no. I mean, there’s no need to get annoyed with anyone on my behalf,’ I say quickly. Polly may turn out to be a cantankerous old so-and-so with a vivid imagination, but I wouldn’t want her upset in any way. ‘I’ll just be careful now I know what she’s like.’ ‘It’s admirable of you to take that line,’ Kyoko says lightly.

Thanks for the help.
