Take something/someone (,) for example?

Dear teachers,

I looked up the word, "example," in the dictionary and there was an example sentence as follows:

  • take somebody/something (for example)
  • Not everyone is doing so well. Take Sheryl, for example - she's still looking for a job.

Should comma (,) always be positioned before 'for'?

Thanks and best regards,

David Kim

Should comma (,) always be positioned before 'for'? That is a good question. Most style guides still say yes, but it becoming more common to omit it in the modern minimalization of 'commafication'.
