Take off/ take from/take off from...

I have no idea of what can be wrong but I feel these sentences don't sound right. Please help.

1. «I took the bracelet off (from) the skeleton»

2. «I tried to take the pictrure from the wall but it was fastened (to it — is it better to repeat "it"?) with a small chain.»

Thanks in advance,
Anton

I don't know too. Maybe both versions are correct?

I took the bracelet off the skeleton.
I tried to take the picture off the wall, but it was fastened to it with a small chain.

I don't know either.
