Take me on

Hello,

Is there such an idiomatic expression "Take me on" as to mean "challenge me" or "make a stand against me" ?

Thanks

Hi Yes, that is right, but it is idiomatic ... - I'm having a quiet drink and suddenly there's this guy trying to take me on - I say "You really do not want to take me on" Dave
