Take it as a sign that

'Should I take it as a sign that she's ready to go back to school?'

First of all, is the above sentence grammatically correct?

How would you interpret it?

- That she's already been back at school, which is the sign on something else that is just not mentioned here?

Or

- That she's not been back at school yet, but that she might be ready, because she's done something not mentioned here, which could be a sign that she might be ready to go back soon?

Or could it be interpreted as both depending on context?

Don't know how to explain it better, so I hope you know what I mean.
